CAMBIOS!! I'm leaving my beloved sector of Coyquen in Chillán to go back to the coast in Talcahuano, a place called Hualpen. I'm going to be opening a sector called Bio-Bio with an Elder called Elder Troncoso. I've heard a lot about the guy, and I honestly hope that he's as cool as I've heard! I've also heard that it rains a TON in Hualpen! :D Thank goodness my boots got here! Haha! ;D
So more about this week. On Thursday, we had a Family Home Evening with the Young Single Adults, and the Sisters were able to bring an investigator. Unfortunately, the investigator came not to learn, but to try to convert all of us to his religion. XD There was some discussion, but in the end, we remained the same. What I learned from that experience is that doctrinal knowledge is great and everything, but what really matters is Spirit. If a person is convinced by only reading and receiving knowledge that way, it's not a testimony that's going to last. In order to have a true conversion, you need to feel the Spirit. After that, there's no denying what you've felt and your conversion is going to be something that lasts. I was reading in the Bible about the growth of the church after Jesus had resurrected, and it was really quite astonishing to see the people that joined the church without knowing much, but these people were truly converted, because the Apostles taught with the Spirit, and with the testimony of the Spirit, the people could not deny what they were hearing.
The catch is what the world has developed these days. If a person is in the things of the world, these things lessen their sensitivity to the Spirit, and deprives them from feeling this oh-so-important testimony that they need. I feel that because people are so connected with the world, they are in reality, spiritually numb.
So Brian Nick Mundaca Sandoval went to church on Sunday for the first time! Woohoo!! :D:D I'm glad I was able to see him progress until that point in my time here. I know he's going to pull through and be baptized in the end. I won't be here, but I have faith that it's going to happen. :)
So on Saturday, we showed up to the Familia Duran, and they took us out back and showed us the work they had done so far taking out the trunk of a tree they have in their yard.
Well, for those of you that know me, I got excited because I've never taken out a trunk before, and how often do you get an opportunity like that?? I hacked away at the roots of that thing with a hatchet, a pickaxe, and with a chainsaw. :D In the end, we got it removed, but I didn't have my camera to take a picture. :( After doing that, we played soccer with our ward, and I WRECKED it! I think the Chilean skills of soccer are rubbing off on me. XDXD
Thanks for all the prayers and support! Have a fantastic week all!!
Con muchísimo amor,
Elder Robertson
