Hey everybody! It's good to be here again in this Easter Weekend fresh from Conference!
So firstly, this week was pretty calm. We didn't get to the gym because we were busy basically every morning and then Friday and Saturday it was closed for the Holidays.
Conference was FANTASTIC. I think the quote that most called my attention was when someone said, "God doesn't expect us to be perfect, he expects us to KEEP TRYING." I wish I could remember who it was that said that but my notes are back at the house. XD
Another thing I learned this week I learned from the scriptures. In the scriptures, there's a part in doctrine and covenants that says that Jesus, or the Light, came unto his people, but his people were in the things of the world enough that they could not comprehend the light, and for that, they rejected it. They crucified Christ because the light he shone was a light that they could not comprehend.
Learning that taught me a big lesson. If we are spending our days in the Internet, in technology, or just sitting in front of the TV, we're not doing anything to help our spiritual light. Sure, we are not doing anything to worsen it, but we're not doing anything to better it. When we spend our time searching the spiritual truths of God, we receive increased light, and with this increased light, we are able to find and UNDERSTAND even more things. This is why reading the scriptures over and over again is so important, because each time we do, we have a different, and hopefully bigger, amount of spiritual light that helps us to understand more of God's Plan and what he wants us to do. An increased amount of Spiritual Light not only helps us to understand Eternal Truths, but it also helps us to resist temptation. With more Spiritual Light, we are able to view things from an Eternal point of view and decide in the way that God wants us to decide, choosing right instead of choosing wrong.
Looking back on before my mission, I can see now why reading the scriptures and praying often was so important, because it LITERALLY gives us light, and a higher ability to resist temptation.
So that is my invitation for this week. This week I invite each of you to show your body who is in control. When you are tired and your body is screaming for rest or some type of diverseness, take control, and do something that will increase YOUR Spiritual Light.
I know that as each of us do this, with a true desire to grow our faith and gain this Spiritual Light, we will find it even easier to open up the scriptures, say our morning, bedtime, and family prayers, and assist our weekly church meetings. In fact, I promise you that you will even arrive at the point where you find JOY in doing it. I know that I have reached that point, and I honestly never thought it would come, but now the scriptures are a delight. Having a personal conversation with my Heavenly Father multiple times a day is an opportunity and a privilege that I wouldn't give up for anything in the world.
Have a fantastic week all! Thank you for all your love and support and enjoy your week!
