Hello all! Another week gone!
This week has been fantastic! On Tuesday, I went on a mini-cambio with Elder Encarnacion. Yes, he is a gringo, but his parents are from Puerto Rico so he spoke Spanish pretty well before the mission. It's interesting though, the Spanish that they speak in Puerto Rico is a bit different. To pronounce their "r" they use the "w" sound, so it kinda sounds like a parent talking to their baby that doesn't understand anything... But that's besides the point. He's an awesome guy and the mini-cambio was GREAT! His sector of Cuillón is super campo and I'm sure that at the end we had walked at least 10 miles, but what are you going to do!? :D
The next day, Wednesday, we had a zone conference. Everyone here in Chillán went to Concé to do it as well, which was a bit weird, no one knows why because Concé is a good 2 hours away from here. Doesn't matter though. XD We got up at 5 in the morning to get on the bus that was going to take us there. In the conference, we were talking about faith to find people, and the President did something a bit crazy. Well, you could call it crazy, but it really was just a test of our faith. He appointed two missionaries to go out of the chapel in that moment and go find someone that would be willing to come in and have two other missionaries teach him a small lesson. We started with a prayer and sent them out. Within FIVE MINUTES, they were walking in with a young man of 25 years. Two other missionaries taught him a small lesson with all of us watching, and in the end, he is willing to have the missionaries come and teach him.
What was crazy was that when we asked him where he was going, he said he was on his way to work, but just that day, he felt the need to leave 15 minutes early... And if it hadn't been for that, the missionaries wouldn't have found him. This man was PREPARED. It was amazing to see the Hand of the Lord in that moment.
On Saturday, we got together with two recently returned missionaries and went on splits. I got my return missionary hopelessly lost, but in the end, we ended up finding where we needed to go and I got to teach a lesson. :D It was a fantastic experience, and I feel like I know the sector so much better after just a short time. It's amazing how the Lord helps you in the moments when you're hopelessly lost to find your way back on the right path and headed towards your goal. :)
On Sunday, we had a family home evening with a couple that are both return missionaries. The wife served in Temple Square, Salt Lake City, and when I first saw her, I thought she looked REALLY familiar, and so I told her that I thought I had seen her before, and she responded that she was going to say the SAME THING! Holy cow! Small world!!
And then today. Today we played some soccer with 2 other zones and ate some barbeque afterwards. It was a lot of fun and oh boy am I sore! :D The soccer ball that you see in the picture is also my new soccer ball, because ironically, none of the latino missionaries had one. XD
And that's it for my week! I look forward to talking to you all next week and I thank you all for the love and support that I am receiving while here on my mission! :)
