Hey everybody!! It's been a very WET week!! Turns out that this winter, there's something crazy going on with the air currents near chile, and we're supposed to get a TON of rain!!! We tasted the first major storm just yesterday...
So our leading investigator at this moment is Juan!! Juan is 87 years old and quite lucid for that age. He drives around selling shoes to clients and seems to make a pretty good living out of it!! (A little scary that he's driving still though) He wasn't able to make it to church because he had to work.
And actually, one of the main things I wanted to share today is about what happened yesterday. We had an AMAZING spiritual experience.
So to start off, in church, all of the lessons and talks were focused on Christ and his Atonement. Everything was great and spiritual and was perfect for leading up to the experience we had:
We were walking in the rain, searching for people to contact (which there weren't many) when we turned a corner and saw that the street was flooded up to the middle of our calves. We were on the sidewalk, so there wasn't a problem, but then a mid-size truck full of vegetables came flying down the street and went straight into the water and died. I stopped my companion, and we waited while the driver tried to start the engine, but it was soaked. He then opened his door, about to jump into the water when we called to him and offered to push him out of there. He said yes and climbed back in.
I was fine as far as the water goes because of the AWESOME rain boots that my parents sent me (THANKS MOM AND DAD) but my companion was less lucky and soaked his mid-size boots as he stepped in. Now, the crazy part of this experience? Well, as my companion and I pushed the truck out of the water, we both began to realize just how ridiculous it was. How were we able to push it?
The craziest part was that the 2 of us got the truck up to the velocity that it needed to pop the shift and start the truck back up. The man inside got out, offered us money, which we immediately refused, and then gave us a couple of bags of peanuts instead. Afterwards, my companion and I were pretty shell-shocked, reflecting on how we were able to push that truck in the end.
I know that the power of the Atonement is real. I know as well that it does more than just cleanse us of our sins, but it can strengthen us in times of trial, comfort us when no one else can, and give us an extra hand when we need it. ;) I'm so grateful for my Savior and for His Atoning sacrifice. There's no way that I'm ever going to be able to repay Him, but I'm going to do everything possible. :)
Love you all and have a fantastic week!!
