Hello all! Buenas dias, buenas tardes, buenas noches, depending on what time you're seeing this email.
So this week, we got up at 5 in the morning to go and make pancakes and waffles for the youth in our ward that have early morning seminary at 6:30. I don't think I've ever been so tired in my life, but it was definitely a success! Hopefully now the youth will be more willing to work with us. :D
We did a lot of "service" this week for one of our members. His mom has a store that does its own bread, and they recently fired all of the workers because there were all really not trustworthy, or something like that. So now Jose is in charge of doing the bread for the store, by himself. ;D It's a lot of work though, so 2 or 3 days we went this week to help him out a bit with it. It's really cool to be able to learn skills in cooking and such here in the mission, and most definitely a blessing as well. :)
On Saturday, we went to a special conference where Elder Oaks went to Santiago to talk to all of Chile through broadcasting. So we gathered together all 250 of the missionaries in our mission and jammed them all together for 2 hours. It was a very good meeting with lots of stuff that we can learn and apply to our missions, and it was good to see all those that are working in sectors farther away that I wouldn't normally see.
Later in the night on Saturday, we had the second rain I've seen in my month here in Chillán. Let me tell you, the skies let forth all that they've been holding back! It was awesome! :D
On Sunday, I was assigned to give a talk about mission work, and so I talked about how through doing mission work, we are setting an example for our kids that they will follow. I felt like it was really good and that the Spirit really testified to the people. If you want to know basically what my talk was about, you can look at 2nd Nephi 25:26. :D
And today, WOW. We had a zone activity where we traveled for about 1 and a half hours to the bottom of a ski resort, and then we hiked up the mountain to see some cool hot springs. Some other Elders and I wanted to get up as high on the mountain as we could as well, and we got pretty far, but it got to the point where we couldn't progress because the ice was too slippery. XD
This zone activity really testified to me of something. Every time we came up to a crest, we pushed ourselves to reach it because we thought the end was near, but every time we came up on top faced with another hill and another challenge.
I found that we can apply this to our lives, that we have challenges, even daily challenges that we have to overcome everytime, and at times we become discouraged because there always seems to be another grand hill just behind the one you're faced with. As well, at times we aren't prepared with the right equipment to be able to progress and we need the help of someone higher than us. The point of all this climbing though, is that we DON'T GIVE UP. We always keep in mind that in the end, when we reach the end goal and we're in the Rest of our God, then it will all be worth it. Continuing forward is the only thing we can do in this life, step by step, here and there, line upon line, precept upon precept.
I love you all! Thank you very much for the support that you are all always showing! I am so very blessed to have such great friends and family. :)
Have a fantastic week!
